Malorie
Have a PAUL HERRMANN bow that came with an old violin I acquired several years ago. Anyone ever hear of this name? I've heard of Karl Herrmann, but never Paul Herrmann.
tinab
Hi I inherited a cello bow that is stamped Paul Herrmann. The bow's owner was German (from Luebeck). A google yields a Paul Herrmann violin bow sold at auction for $504 http://www.skinnerinc.com/auctions/2544B/lots/112 And another for $705 http://www.skinnerinc.com/auctions/2333/lots/153 At http://www.moennigbogen.de/uns.html "Meine ersten Eindrücke vom Bogenbau bekam ich in der Werkstatt meines Großvaters Paul Herrmann, der schon bei seinem Vater Friedrich August Herrmann den Beruf des Bogenmachers erlernte." The writer, Michael Mönnig, says, "my first impressions of bow making came in the workshop of my grandfather Paul Herrmann, who was trained in bow making by his father Friedrich August Herrmann." Cheers, Tina
GennadyF.
My current article is about the Herrmann Dynasty featured in the August2021 issue of STRAD magazine. Tells the full story of this family of master makers.
