What ever has got into T2? Since June I receive useless one-word condition reports from them: "Good", "Poor" - what does that even mean?

When I ask specifically, e.g. "does the instrument have a sound post patch?", I am told that they don't issue condition reports - no sh*t, Sherlock!

Am I the only one who is underwhelmed by this level of detail?

It appears T2 is run completly different than Tarisio's Fine Instrument Auctions. They now run much more often with 300 or more lots per sale so it may be a time issue or just policy. T2 gives you rewards for buying off your buyer's premium while the much more expensive Fine Instrument Auctions do not. T2 Buyers are rewarded while Fine Instrument buyers are not.

Even condition reports for Fine Instruments are slow or none existant. Perhaps just a volumn problem. Communication seems to have become a problem just getting someone to respond to a call or email. Hopefully they'll get it sorted out.

I just note that the surrounding palaver is considerably longer than the actual 'Condition Report':

"Following is the condition report you requested:

Lot 209 - A VIOLIN, 18th CENTURY, Labeled, "Joannes Baptista Zanoni Verone fecit anno 1737."

Good.

**Note: Condition reports are provided as a service to bidders, and although they are prepared as accurately as possible, in no way do they express or imply warranties of any kind on the part of T2. Open seams, loose glue joints, missing or damaged accessories (pegs, bridges, tailpieces, chinrest, buttons, ivory tips, pearl eyes, and slides etc.) are not mentioned in T2's condition reports. [YOU DON'T SAY!] Bidders should carefully examine items before bIdding.

One wouldn't get away with such a description of the condition on eBay!

Yup.  IIRC, I've never read an eBay violin description that terse.  Jesse ( @pahdah_hound ) used to write literary masterpieces, that would send some members here into absolute transports of vituperation that in turn went on for pages and pages. This amounting to "free advertising" never seemed to occur to the posters. Great entertainment, too.icon_rofl.gif.67a45da573d0a5cefe6d41f402f786cd.gif

By the way, some of us here (who, be it noted, know what we're doing) have had excellent experiences buying a variety of stuff on eBay.  :)
