Tolstoy Posted October 24, 2025 Report Posted October 24, 2025 Was scrolling through the Tarisio London auctions and came across this Fagnola. Any insight as to what caused the varnish to be like that? I don’t recall any other Fagnolas with craquelure like that. Did the previous owner leave it out in the sun?

One is left to speculate about the reason why. Recalling another thread I would think, this can happen if you try to “repair a too soft” varnish with a French polish.
