Just Sayin’ Posted May 22 Report Posted May 22 Has anyone noticed an increase in the price of accessories like strings (since most are manufactured abroad) in the US since tariffs kicked in?

Strabo Posted June 6 Report Posted June 6 I noticed price increases for strings about a year ago, before the tariffs kicked in. I have always been struck by the massive price difference between fiddle strings and mandolin strings. I understand that violin strings have some technical characteristics that drive up their cost, but ... gosh! Of course I’m only a mid-level fiddler and not an accomplished violinist, so I do understand that my skill level prevents me from appreciating the qualities of the more expensive violin strings. And my $1200 fiddles -- wonderful though they are -- may not take advantage of top-quality strings. I use Prims on one fiddle and Helicores on the other.
