Some Stradivaris and Guerneris do stuff like that, and a lot of them don't.

Thanks, you'd know.  All I can go from is what I've read or been told, plus the handful I've heard played.  None of those were "dogs", as near as I could tell.    :)

Thanks for the paper Marty and obviously Anders for the study.I attached a picture of a page of the paper I hope that is ok. If not someone let me know. I found the circled area rather interesting.
