Jargar Strings

Hi everybody, I'm using now on my current violin Dominants what I'm not happy with, does anyone have any experience with Jargar Evoke strings or Superior?

Jargar ws bought out by Thomastik last year, if I remember right

A lot of people who use Dominants use light gauge, if you haven't tried them.

I’ve only heard great things about the Jargar Superior set from my violin colleagues.

Is that now a Thomastic product?

Jargar was a cool product for many decades, if one was willing to put up with the inconsistencies from what was basically cottage-based production.

They are now a branch of Thomastik, and produce the new Evoke Strings in Vienna. The rest of the line is still manufactured in Denmark.

If you visit Thomastik in Vienna, you can feel like you've got yourself a walk-on roll in an episode of the Addams family, so that should be cottage enough

I’ve always heard that it was run by a fierce business womman Zdenka Infeld with a huge passion and portfolio for modern painting.

It's been a few decades since I went. Then they had a heap of strange stuff, with the bridgefoot that goes through the belly instead of a soundpost and all sorts of stuff like that, made by the founder. I've kept well clear since then, 'cos I'm not desperate to repair all that

I am using Jargar superior on the recommendation of a high class player. He told me it’s the only string where you have entire control of sound with extreme bowing technique.  (Something like driving a sports car to the edge of its possibilities) 

To my personal taste they have a sort of ‘high definition sound’ which might have the disadvantage of lacking warmth. That’s a matter of taste in the end.
