jandepora Posted April 23 Report Posted April 23 Hello, This time I really love to know your opinion about this violin.
martin swan Posted April 23 Report Posted April 23 I agree that the label is wrong - at first glance the violin looks like something decent from Mirecourt 1830-40 ish ...
fiddlecollector Posted April 24 Report Posted April 24 Looks a bit like a Maline violin i had years ago , though cant find any decent photos. heres the as bought photo, though the maline has slight wider corners. I assume yours is from similar period first 1/2 19th century. Maybe even something to do with Nicolas Aine
jandepora Posted April 24 Author Report Posted April 24 I finally unglued the label to see if it has any mark under it and, like @martin swan and @jacobsaunders said, it was spurious.

The violin is beautiful. The label is certainly telling. Do you mind sharing which method you used to remove it?

I inserted a piece of paper towel and put it over the label. Then I wet it with water with a brush from outside and wait for ten minutes. And use a tweezers to remove and take out.

jandepora Posted April 26 Author Report Posted April 26 I was searching for instruments with the same corners and purfling and founded that those from Thouvenel are very closer. But the f holes doesn't match. I think that the edges and corners are very personal and maybe could help to id the maker.
