Otto Posted February 27 Report Posted February 27 Hello guys, I've never postet here before, but I've been reading and learning a lot on this forum so that first I'd like to say thank you to all of you for creating this platform and sharing your knowledge, it is invaluable! Soooo, I recently bought this new cello - I am a cellist, not a maker - and despite "having learned so much" here, I'd appreciate your help regarding my new instrument, since I have no clue what to make of it. I find it looks beautiful (parents and their children, what can I say...), but I have no clue what it is or from where it could be. There is no label, the corners look BOB to me (or outside mould, I still can't really distinguish between the two???), but then the scroll's fluting goes more or less all the way. Also there are these two pins in the neck such as I haven't seen before and the only rhyme I can make of it is that it may have been one of those adjustable necks that Jacob wrote about several times? Aaanyway, I'd appreciate any kind of input to give me some idea as of where this cello might be from.
jacobsaunders Posted February 27 Report Posted February 27 It looks rather like a Willhelm Thomas Jaura, Vienna, 1900ish
Spelman Posted February 27 Report Posted February 27 Is it me or is the neck badly in need of a reset?

The neck would originally have been fit using the Stauffer adjustable neck system, which I explained here https://maestronet.com/forum/index.php?/topic/346698-alois-engleder-budae-1847/#findComment-902037 Since the neck has already been “re-set”, I see no reason to re-re-set it
