It seems like I've seen a few cellos recently with a scooped out or scalloped side of the scroll, like this one:

Does this suggest a time period when it was a trend and/or region, or after a maker? Anyone else come across these? I notice also that the lower pegbox is angled sharply up towards the back of the instrument.
