CharlieLewis Posted February 17 Report Posted February 17 (edited) Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help to identify my violin? It was bought in 2003 from a store co-owned by Peter Zaret, and is unlabelled. While having an open seam repaired a couple of years ago, a dealer in Toronto suggested that it might have been a violin sold by the Wurlitzer family. I’m not sure how he can to this conclusion? It has an extremely warm sound, and has served me well throughout University, and playing professionally. Any thoughts on the violin would be greatly appreciated! Edited February 18 by CharlieLewis
Will Turner Posted February 18 Report Posted February 18 A very lovely instrument, I am sure it sounds very beautiful as well. Will be interesting to see what others may say.
GeorgeH Posted February 18 Report Posted February 18 Welcome to MN! It looks like a French violin c. 1900 that could have been imported and sold by any number of shops. You said it doesn’t have a label but I can see one inside the bass f-hole. What does it say?
CharlieLewis Posted February 18 Author Report Posted February 18 Thank you GeorgeH! The label visible in the picture says “ Fatto per I Violini di Angelico, Modello Masteract Anno 2003. It was added to the violin, by the dealer, when they performed some work on the bass bar.
