Scott Cao is a pretty big brand, but it seems models now are STV, and thus I could not find any information on the SCV model. Can anyone shed light on this please?

The local instruments here in California are mostly STV- labeled, that I have seen in greater numbers.

Having worked for a company that did an extensive export business, the part numbers were adapted to identify particular distributors to verify and protect source locations. The distributors would also design their own packaging, perhaps the equivalent of creating their own labels? Could this instrument have been originally sold elsewhere ( outside the US ? )

Aside from this information, how is the instrument itself? Wish there were better photos? Back?

I do have a lower end STV ( European wood ) being worked on ( new bridge, viola ) that has a printed 2014. And this means very little. It only tells me that the instrument was popular enough to have sheets of labels printed for this particular model. Sounded great, trying for a bit more. This one is for a retired professional opera player from Europe who would like to incrementally size down as they grow older.

The SCV300 is China's equivalent of our STV-017E.

So the SCV30 is the equivalent of STV-017?

The violin shown is a scv30, not a scv300. Just curious. In the US, student instruments with the higher number is generally considered the higher quality models.
