Latex sheet for cast making - reusable ?

Hello :

 

   I am curiois about the 0.15mm latex sheets that have been mentioned on here for plaster cast making/copying  - can these be reused again or have to be discared after one use? Also anything needed between the original casts /negatives and the latex sheet ?

So long as the latex doesn’t tear it can be reused indefinitely. If plaster reside adheres, it can be cleaned off and the latex can be dusted with talcum powder between uses.

Yes, it can be reused. It's important that it gets cleaned properly, dried well, and dusted well with talc. It will stick together and get gummy if not taken care of properly.

Hello all:

Thank you for your replies so far.

I have now bought some 0.15mm latex from The Netherlands , and would like to confirm some details before using it (for plaster casts copying):

 

- Any lubricants needed between the cast negatives , plaster mix and/or latex film ? (I think Vaseline or dish soap is usually used for seran wraps)

- How to clean the plaster off latex sheet (just wash with water ?)
