Just for additional info, that violin (whatever it is) has been listed multiple times. It always sells, but it always comes back, so I assume that the seller is never happy with the price so keeps on cancelling the sale and re-listing it.

To my eye it looks like someone's attempt to stylize a normal trade instrument by widening the ffs in a distasteful manner. IMHO. Puts me off, but that's just my reaction.

That the label is fake and the violin is worth no more than you paid for it ...

Hum I guess i expected it to be a copy/fake looking at auction prices on https://tarisio.com/cozio-archive/browse-the-archive/makers/maker/?Maker_ID=376

Do you think it could still be a nice violin? Compared to one of the ~200$ Chinese ones or a German trade violin? ex.  https://www.ebay.com/itm/226456783283  ? The wood and back looked nice to me

@martin swan you posted this in 2012 - I guess still relevant:/

Bargain hunters who go grubbing around trying to buy an Italian violin for $1000 will be conned again and again

If someone based in Hannover, Germany has sold hundreds upon hundreds of "Italian" violins on Ebay for low prices, you can be sure that it's an effective business model that generates a good profit.

It follows that the purchase price must be less than half of the average sale price. So these violins are presumably obtainable for $200, so they must be Chinese or low grade Reghin instruments ...

He is also selling a 70k violin and accepts returns which is usually not the case - but I agree most of the sold items have been under 1k

You ssem to be making the assumption that the 70k violin is as described

I'm not great on recognition, and it claims to have a certificate, but looks more like an 18th century Markneukirchen instrument or similar to me?

Well ... Cordano died in the 1730s and there are no known instruments by the supposed later Cordano who might b=have been working in 1770.But they surely wouldn't have looked like this

Yes, this is not what I would expect to see from 18th century Genoa, but then again I am no expert...

Well, I would also like to sell a violin which isn't exactly a Cordano for something not being exactly 70 K (for I've not enough room to store it).

Listing very-high priced scam violins with alleged certificates and money-back returns is a clever marketing strategy for adding fake credibility to low-priced scam violin listings.

I have asked the seller for certificates and he has provided certificates from mr Gindin and other known experts. I have asked the experts for origin of certificates and it was confirmed, so there is no scam. Without any doubt the "experts" lets say "amateur violin dealers" above have only an interest to sell own staff. Dirty Us-business, as usually. That's why i was sure about mr Trump and his friend Musk haha. I am from Italy, sorry for my english

Didn‘t you argue for this and similar sellers before here? The last time you told us being from Rhegin, what‘s not in Italy as far as I know.

Haha.

Dmitry has certified this "Cordano"? You'd think the seller would realize that showing the certificate would be the best way to sell the violin ...

Why would you not ask the seller personally?

I'm pretty familiar with the Genoese makers of the 18th century. With all due respect to Dmitry, if he certified this as being a Jacopo Cordano 1770 I would assume someone had slipped a tab of acid into his tea ...

If you like it so much you could buy it.

Thanks for offending answering members here. I'm not from Amrica, nor "hobby dealer", same the majority of posters in this thread. If political posting wasn't taboo here, I could give you some replys on comparing us with criminal liars.
