And I won a violin auction for just one dollar, but I can’t afford to pay for it, and to make things worse, here in Brazil the import taxes are extremely high, reaching up to 100% of the paid value. So there's a big chance I would end up paying $400 in the end. Right now, that’s too much for me, so I’ll have to stick with my factory-made Chinese violin, which costs about 600 reais (around $100), for another 10 years. Has anyone ever gotten a violin that cheap? I only have until tomorrow (October 20th) to secure it, but it would take a miracle from God for me to manage it. If anyone has suggestions on how I can work online reliably, maybe I could afford a better violin in the future. Send me a email: ni2co3san9@gmail.com.

Looks like you won $49 chinese violin for $0.99 but with huge shipping cost of $199. Typical strategy of extremely cheap price and inflated shipping.

You can buy similar new violins in retail here in EU for less than 100 EUR including case, bow and a cake of rosin, sometimes they throw in a set of strings. You can buy used one for even less than that and hopefully someone already invested in proper setup.

I have one M20 4/4 Guarnieri style violin from artimusic, paid 201 USD, no duties (depends on country) and also T20+ Stradivari style 4/4 from yitamusic.

I disagree that these violins can be compared to 49 USD or "less than 100 EUR" violins. Because those ultra-cheap kits are sometimes made from plywood, fingerboard is just some painted mystery-wood and not the best material selection for the back, have fake purfling and sound boxy - you can get combination of that or, if you're lucky, materials will be proper but do not expect anything special about sound and looks. While M20 and T20 usually look stunning, have pronounced flaming and compared to, for example, Stentor 1400-something ($137) they sound way better.

Downside - both M20 and T20+ required additional setup. M20 - spacing at nut was awfully wrong. Also you get a case but no bow. They sell bows too. I've got their hybrid carbon-fiber/wood bow for 1 USD + 30 USD shipping, it is satisfying, not something extraordinary but again much better than those crooked sticks from cheap kits. The bow arrived in a thick plastic pipe. Overall I am happy, they ship quickly and according to reviews if anything arrives broken they send a replacement.

But I can't recommend buying their violins unless you are willing to do the setup and minor repairs yourself (or pay for it).

Also, do not expect that by paying more online you will get a much better violin or a better setup. It's not always like that. Below is a 459 USD + 100 USD shipping violin (from a different seller). Just look at that bridge.

I’m always astonished that people say that they have “WON” something, when they buy some random gargoyle on Ebay:)

Bidding is a competition.

The mistake is to think one has won it for 1 Dollar when you agree at the same time in shipping costs of 200.

Correctly it should be „I have lost 200 Dollars for shipping my 1 Dollar violin“. Plus the custom fees.

Interesting bridge.  Certainly not an Aubert DeLuxe

Good eyes here. Looks to white for me as well, and with to little appearence of good bridge.
