Branden Posted September 9 Report Posted September 9 Is this violin real and genuine or some fake copy and how much it would possibly be worth
HoGo Posted September 10 Report Posted September 10 I'm far from expert but the quality of the label looks like a photocopy. May be just a camera/flash effect but there are hundreds of violins on ebaly looking much like this with fake labels of made up or existing deceased makers.
HoGo Posted September 10 Report Posted September 10 Here it is for sale: https://www.carousell.sg/p/good-european-violin-20th-century-1227254333/
Guido Posted September 11 Report Posted September 11 The seller says it’s a fake. If you can’t put your trust in what the seller says you shouldn’t buy.

He doesn't say it straight, but general rule on evilbay and similar sites is that if the seller doesn't say MADE BY XY but rather just notes that the violin bears label of XY means it is NOT real. If he states violin by XY and you 'll find out it is fake you can open dispute and try to get your money back.
germain Posted September 12 Report Posted September 12 Fake. I have seen a real one and although this one is made to look like a Contavalli it is not. Keep in mind that even if real these violins are not expensive instruments. $8-10K range. There are a few Italian makers like that. Giorgio Corsini for example- inexpensive but good sounding. Contavalli violins are made with quite a bit of flare and personality in the woodworking.
