twcellist Posted August 21, 2024 Report Posted August 21, 2024 I’m totally inexperienced about this, but I bought this Bazin bow for cheap. Overall to me the condition look fine except there is this mark on the head. Is this where a repair was done? The bow play well and sounds great, but I’ve been told if there is a head repair then the value of the bow is cut by at least 50%?
David Burgess Posted August 21, 2024 Report Posted August 21, 2024 I can't tell what's going on there from the photo. Examining the area with a high-powered microscope might shed some light on it.
fiddlecollector Posted August 21, 2024 Report Posted August 21, 2024 It may be a crack ,on lightining it up i see this ,may be nothing but could be a crack.
twcellist Posted August 21, 2024 Author Report Posted August 21, 2024 Wow... okay... thanks for your insight. In your opinion do you think it's worth the time and effort to color match or polish this out? Someone told me that some repairs are so good that the only way to tell it's been repaired is by x-ray. I mean to me I paid practically nothing for the bow as I bought it with "player's bow" in mind.

If you bought the bow less than half price of a Bazin, then nothing to worry about:) You may take another picture on the back of head with good light, so people can see how deep the mark is and give you opinions.
