I would be beside myself if I lost that much work. I know I am not supposed to comment on other peoples’ threads since I haven’t completed my first violin yet, but from what I have seen from your posts, I’m sure you will recover. But damn,. damn.., damn…, it has to hurt. Years ago I would have been more upset but not so much now. It's just work and it continues to be enjoyable. When it stops being fun then it's time to hang it up.

ernym
Thanks, really having fun glad I have to start over because I cut the form down on my second build and didn't like the results. Notice the ribs don't sit flat against the bottom of the form. Even though it's shimmed it's not quite the same shape as the original tracing. ernym
I posted this video in the first build thread. Gerald Trimble playing his restored Sultana at KC Strings. To give you an idea of how an original was played and what it sounds like.

Sean Couch
Looking great. Are you going to do a fully rounded bead on the edge? I'm asking because the scoop looks square-ish on the outer perimeter. I have been wondering how the fully rounded bead would be carved, and leaving the scoop inset from the edge and more square is what first came to mind. When I saw your fluting, I had to ask.
