wooden Posted June 24, 2024 Report Posted June 24, 2024 Hello. I have this violin bow stamped "France". Is this a generic trademark or maybe a factory brand? I'd appreciate any help. Thanks un advance.
martin swan Posted June 24, 2024 Report Posted June 24, 2024 Standard marking on factory bows made for export to the US. This looks to be a basic nickel and brazilwood Mirecourt bow ...

I personally play with a "Voirin" silver-mounted octagonal pernambuco bow from circa 1920's that's stamped "FRANCE" but is actually German. They can be found in old Metropolitan Music catalogs, along with the Piques that @duane88 mentioned. These bows have been posted on and discussed here before. Some of them are very nice.

Metropolitan also sold bows stamped EMILE DUPREE, FRANCE, that were made in Germany. Some of these are also very nice.
