Abiona Posted January 25 Report Posted January 25 Hello! Firstly, I will admit, I am not a musician... so my knowledge is minimal, at best. My grandfather (who has since passed) gave me a couple of instruments, one of which is my great-grandfathers violin. I cannot seem to find much information on the violin and am mostly wondering if it is of value to try and seek out a professional appraisal for insurance sake. The information inside the body of the violin says 'Nicola Alagio, Lauria, Cremona, 1906)
mysticpaw Posted January 25 Report Posted January 25 Alagio Niccolo, Lauria (Potenza). Born May 11, 1879 in Lauria Superiore, was a self-taught violin maker, but won distinction at expositions with instruments of an individual model. Oil varnish of brick-red colour. Good repairer.
