Benolin Posted January 25, 2024 Report Posted January 25, 2024 I am doing some research on the violin maker Franjo Schneider, and I would love to find more information about him. From what I know, he was a Croatian maker who once owned a factory producing all sorts of instruments, but during a later period opened up his own workshop by himself, where he would make stringed instruments. The only thing that I had gotten from other maestronet posts was that he was well known in Croatia, but I would love to get to know more, especially about violins from that later period aforementioned. If you know any information about him or his instruments, for anything from distinctive features on his instruments, to his history, to the value of his violins, to people that he learned from, to stylistic identifiers of his, anything would be helpful and of use. But, information about his history, as well as info about his violins from that later period would be especially helpful. Any external resources / books would also be very much appreciated. Thank you again for anything you may have!!
romberg flat Posted January 26, 2024 Report Posted January 26, 2024 Hello Benolin, Violin maker Franjo Schneider has a small museum in Zagreb, Croatia dedicated to him. Here are the contacts: http://muzej-franje-schneidera.com/ d.stipesevic@gmail.com +385(0)91 737 6819 Darko Stipesevic is a violin maker who is working in the Museum and takes care of the collection. As far I know on the market could only be occasionally found factory produced violins, but not ones made by himself. For more information the best would be to contact Mr. Stipesevic.
