im looking to make a very simple clavichord for a school project. i want to know the essentials needed to make and clavichord and am also open to other uncommon string instruments to mak

This is an old topic, but if you are still interested, take a look at zuckerman kits 

I built the King of Sweden kit a few years ago. Relatively easy to put together if you have some woodworking experience, but still nearly 100 hours of work. Starting from scratch is at least as much time and work as building a violin, if not more.
