Rick moncrief
Hello all! I’m new to this forum and was hoping for a little help in identifying this instrument. I can’t locate any ID tag or sticker other than a handprinted note saying “regraduated and repaired by J Thornton 1982”. Any help would be greatly appreciated! It’s the only pics I have. Thanks! FiddleDoug
If that fuzzy picture is the only one you have, no one is going to give you a definitive identification. The "repaired by" label doesn't help with anything. My guess is that there's about a 99% chance that it's one of the hundreds of thousands of anonymous fiddles from the Markneukirchen area from the first part of the 20th century. Also known as "the usual" around here.
palousian
It looks like the bow is ruined, unless you take the tension off of the hair and it goes back into shape. It's pretty distorted, so... probably not.
Swing Monkey 1
Why do folks think a ratty case is important, more so than actual pictures of the violin? Edited March 18 by Swing Monkey 1 Corrected a few words.
Wood Butcher
I hope it wasn’t J.T. Thornton, from Brewton, Alabama
