Periodically acting like thirteenagers. Teenagers may begin to suspect they're being patronized. Adults may begin to get exasperated.

I am not a dedicated follower, but I do enjoy some of their videos. This last one was both amusing and interesting. (I'd never seen the Tarisio vault before, nor known its history.) If I walked into the Tarisio vault, I'd probably feel like an awestruck kid in candy store, too. (Except for the Isaac Stern suitcase; what's up with that?)

I suppose I wouldn't say that they are "getting away" with anything. They're a couple of entertainers who have worked very hard to grow an audience of followers who enjoy their show (3.6 million followers). Nothing wrong with that. Maybe it will wear thin after a bit, but that happens to many acts. Or maybe they will evolve with their audience. I'd bet on the latter, but either way, there will be a lot of people watching.

They are relevant.  They are learned.  They are adept at the violin. They are funny.

Age makes no difference in what they are doing.  If their target demographic is give or take 5 years around the age of Brett and Eddy, then those followers will be of the same mind set and the humor, appeal, what-have-you, will remain relevant to at least THAT generation.

Ultimately, they are popular and have brought classical music to a demographic that conventional means would have likely never reached.  They can "get away" with whatever they can as long as the audience lets them.  That is the answer.

Aren't those two in their 40's by now? They're getting a bit embarrassing to watch.

LOL!

They're still young enough to be silly.

Don't forget - you only see them on their YouTube videos where they do their schtick.

Maybe they are prim and proper and act as is fitting for their advancing years when the camera is turned off. ^_^

To give them credit, they have also managed to keep their private lives quite private. So far they've managed to keep their work separate, which says a lot for their maturity.

Same here. I watch their videos occasionally. They are trained violinists and taking strings/classical music issues and taboos mainstream... nothing wrong with that. It is becoming harder and harder to keep classical music relevant with the young "Instagram" generation when the attention span is 3 seconds...

Maybe if they'd just stop pretending to be Wayne and Garth and find another schtick.

Who cares about that though? They are bringing classical music to a much wider audience than you and me. The same thing happened when people started complaining about Andre Rieu and his shenanigans. As long as more people get education and access to the world of classical music, I’m fine with it.

I care, although not very much. I may not be their target audience (although I'm one of the small minority who understand what they're talking about) but it's got to the point where I squirm more than I laugh and this particular clip made me squirm. Comedians must evolve or die.

Some of their videos are entertaining and fun to watch in my opinion, some other videos are not. It's a question of personal taste.

That being said, the first thing that came to my mind when watching the video was 'that's big advertising for Tarisio'. I don't remember hearing them mentioning that it's a sponsored video, which is the only negative observation on my part.

Brett & Eddy are good friends ....and clients!

What I love about them is non musicians know them...and love them. Classical music needs to break down as many barriers as possible and these guys do it.

Exactly!

Poor comparison at best. Wayne and Garth were portrayed as idiots with very little intelligence.

Brett and Eddy seem to be intelligent and many of their videos educate the public.

I'm not a regular viewer, but I have been wondering if they talk about which violins they personally own at all? I imagine they have the funds to own pretty decent instruments.

Yes

They only recently each purchased a "good" violin from a contemporary maker.

They have videos discussing their new violins if you want to check it out.

As far as I know, they don't collect violins. They just have the new ones and I assume they kept their old ones as backups (?).

Oh cool I will check their video lists and see if I can find it.
