Isn't that a one piece neck top block and wouldn't that make it a bit earlier

Doesn’t look like any through-block neck that I’ve ever seen. Looks like a conventional neck set to me.

Thanks to everyone for helping me out. The only thing I know about violins is the Devil went down to Georgia (:

I’m building a modern farmhouse and got it in my head that a beat up violin would be nice art on a brick wall.  I’m sure I overpaid at $200 but I was lost in the 1743 year and how that much history made my heart feel.
I now know I should have spent a minute finding a little better one but was lost in the moment.
I just didn’t want to have friends ask and me be incorrect with the year.
again thanks to you all. If I buy another one I’ll be back.

I think you found the perfect thing. This fiddle is pushing 150yo which covers a good chunk of American history. For a farmer who might have grown up during the Reconstruction, this might have been a prize possession and is pretty typical of what most working guys would have had, and still have. You dont want to hang a Strad on the wall do you?

OK, stupid comment, I admit.  But please don't come in with "dustbin".
