Dani Tsui
This one is at a local auction, but there is no fire stamp inside. What do you think?
GeorgeH
It looks right. I don't think they started the branding and serial numbers until 1924.
Spelman
Why are there two different tailpieces and chinrests and two and a half sets strings on this fiddle? Did they photograph it over a period of years for the auction? Also, has the back seam failed?
Strad O Various Jr.
The finish is not antiqued which generally indicates the cheaper model

It is like a local Craiglist, so these are the only pics available
Rothwein
This is one that could be a good player.
Strad O Various Jr.
I had one of this model and the sound was disappointing, the cheapest model seemed to be cheaper in the early 20s than later in the 20s or 30s
Cornell Violins
I have a 1923 Roth with the block letter label and without a brand. According to Wilhelm Roth, "This instrument was made by the Ernst Heinrich Roth I in his workshop in Markneukirchen, year 1923 At that time there were no serial numbers and brand stamp, because my grand-grand- father starts with the numbers and brand stamp in the middle of the year 04.06.1924

This one in the auction I believe is a cheaper one judging from the varnish.
khunsakee
To me, the button doesn't look correct and the varnish looks too dark and one dimensional. Even though, Roth started using the curved/oval type brandstempel before 1924, he didn't start using serial numbers until 1924.
