Ben Goodey
Has a different font to the usual labels and marked 1812 I assume not the usual 1813 ones also has a 2pc back. It was about to be repaired years and years ago then the bloke passed away. That’s why it’s in the current condition. I have never played before and is currently not fully assembled. However, it feels very light currently. Also has faint markings on the neck
jacobsaunders
The usual Saxon box. What happened to the varnish?
Brad Dorsey
The word "firewood" comes to mind.
Dave Slight
A shame it has been ruined, by someone with no knowledge, or skill.
donbarzino
Well, at least the repair work wasn't completed.
Ben Goodey
So it’s not genuine or worth getting repaired. If it’s fake it would it still play well. Also not fully sure was handed to me from my dad who got it from a job many moons ago in some older ladies loft. She gave it to him as it was behind a cupboard for a good 40 years. Not sure how it got to that condition but it’s a shame.
Brad Dorsey
It is a genuine violin, but it is not a genuine Schweitzer. It could play well even though it is not a real Schweitzer, but it is not worth getting it repaired.
