plasterercaster Posted January 14, 2022 Report Posted January 14, 2022 Do you like over exaggerated asymmetrical outlines?

Flattmountain Posted January 14, 2022 Report Posted January 14, 2022 Just now, plasterercaster said: care to explain why the chairs in the top left corner of the bottom picture aren't distorted? The angle of the camera does not allow for that. Can you explain to me why the opposite shoulders are distorted when flipped to show the back?
Greg Sigworth Posted January 14, 2022 Report Posted January 14, 2022 Assuming the cello's stay in the same hands, when the cellos are turned with backs towards us, the distortion would be reversed from what we see if it is real shape and not camera distortion. So this must be a camera distortion.

jacobsaunders Posted January 14, 2022 Report Posted January 14, 2022 One piece cello backs don't occur (in my expierience) unless they are on the slab, 'cos trees dont grow big enough
Ratcliffiddles Posted January 14, 2022 Report Posted January 14, 2022 I am assuming that these are new, right? ( the dendro-proof versions)

David Burgess Posted January 14, 2022 Report Posted January 14, 2022 1 hour ago, Jim Bress said: There are occasional outliers. Yup. I've had some quarter-cut one-piece cello cello backs, but they did cost me an arm and a leg. Or maybe a kidney.

Once upon a time, two Texans were "relieving themselves" from a bridge over a river. One said, "That water sure is cold, aint it!" The other replied, "Yeah, deep too."

Buko Posted January 14, 2022 Author Report Posted January 14, 2022 The dark cello Italian 1800. The light one Sgarabotto 1910. Testore copy
martin swan Posted January 14, 2022 Report Posted January 14, 2022 Surely both are (fakes) by the same maker ...? Different f-holes but same model, workmanship, purfling, varnish and apparently arching
