nathan slobodkin
For those who haven't heard the profession lost two well known figures this month. Marten Cornellisen an excellent maker who influenced the renaissance of violin making in the USA in the early 1970s has passed as well as Roger Johnson who had a successful business in Boston as Johnson Strings for many years and ultimately purchased and operated Carriage House Violins. Both of them had significant influences on my career and they will be missed by many.
l33tplaya
I had heard of Marten Cornellisen (Northanpton) in my college days. Everyone in the 3 college (combined) orchestra in the Valley (Pioneer) wanted an instrument by him. I couldn't afford it until years and years later. Mine is from the 1980's: not super precise, but sounds good. I am so sad to hear of his passing.

Brad Dorsey
I'm sorry to hear about Roger. I sold him a lot of old violins. He was very pleasant to deal with.
