I would rather discuss the violin than engage in this byzantine deconstruction of things I didn't say.

Then stop focusing on me, my friend and get back to the discussion at hand. I have quoted you and your various opinions about OP so it’s all there in the record unavailable for you to edit, the stench remains.

I am also interested to know more about the violin from people truly qualified to comment. Go ahead and get the last word in now, I don’t need it and will not dignify any more disparaging comments coming from you Mr. Swan, you can redirect your discontent to the violin at hand.

I also would like to get back to topic rather than argue about linguistics. At least the main points are on the table.

We seem to agree that a written opinion now would be more informative than any reports about someone has seen it some ages ago and has said something…

BTW the violin doesn’t look autodidactic to me, rather overworked.

Dear all,

I feel somewhat responsible for posting misleading photos... I just took a couple of pictures with my phone which shows a closer reality to what my early Azzola actually looks like...as I mentioned the varnish is much more golden than yellow. But it is worn in some places. And as you can see in the background he is in good company! Lol!!!!!

Wow that is insanely different to the previous pictures!

The other photos were taken with an old I phone and terrible camera and too much direct natural light on the instrument. Back in 2013. Sorry it's simply plain stupid of me to have posted those photos... These are nearer the reality ..." MEA CULPA!!!!!"

The reason why I had asked about your membership was

because i have seen people complete delete things under a new name

with controversial material and an expensive violin could be just that.

I did not ask anything a person would be reasonably offended by,especially

if they have the backing of Eric, which you could have added.

The violin presented questions which you clearly at some point acknowledged

which is why you had the label tested.

I wondered why the varnish was so worn off (with the available pics) and there was a scroll graft

with no other apparent damage to the scroll, again a reasonable question.

Televet voiced his concern about, what to him, seemed hostile and I reviewed that

and responded.

We are incredibly lucky to have some of the experts,in the world mind you, come here

with honest  and experienced opinion

Martin,Jacob,Jeffery and Blank Face all left room for what it is ,to be, as said, clearly.

Sorry to Alexander for any offense, non intended, but nobody was condemning anything from where I stand.

Just reasonable questions, what do you say?

Just saw the new pics and I'm not sure why you have even kept the others let alone posting them.

Peace

I agree 100% Gtone... I have deleted the others... I acted on impulse as they were the only photos I had... Totally stupid of me to have posted them in the 1st place...they bear no reality to my violin....

So you are “not quite certain” if OP is “a fool” but you stated that he is most likely “not being a fool.” Speaking of effluvium…

Take a break BassClef.  I doubt anyone else here read that into Martin's comment. You're not "listening".

...and what about those tool marks you were interested in?

Well since you’re asking me a direct question, I’ll refer you to the tool marks thread where I commented about this a day or two ago, if you were paying attention.

my apologies for stirring the pot, in the end I hope you learned something or will learn something from this thread. I stand by what I said about Martin’s comments, they are still there, he is skeptical if the violin is legitimate and is not sure if OP was somehow foolish by purchasing a violin he isn’t convinced is legitimate. You can spin it however you want as well. It goes without saying that you Martin and BF’s input here is, as usual, pretty good.

And with that I’m done here for now unless someone else has any direct questions or comments to me.

Alexander James Stew; Much better photos. If you're feeling charitable, please take a well lit and sharply focused photo of the center ridge on the back of the pegbox for BassClef.

To be clear, since you keep bringing me up, haha, I never asked for these photos or anything of the sort. Jeffrey Holmes is asking for them, so while we may all learn something about tool marks as a result, it is his request. But if you do generously honor Jeffrey’s request, please post those on the tool marks thread which keeps getting derailed by discussions about who was Strad’s teacher.

Oh Alexander, please don't do that.  If you take them please post them here... I took my leave of the overly intellectualized tool mark thread many, many pages back. I just check it now and then to make sure some civility still exists there.

As a matter of interest, why do you regularly post screenshots of who is reading a thread?

You made it clear you wanted to get back to discussing the violin, please let’s not get sidetracked again. I post them as a matter of interest, it’s my signature move, if you will (did you see what I did there?).

Right everyone time to get this back on track, let's stick to comments on the violin itself.

@Alexander James Stew thank you for the additional photos in better lighting, it certainly looks interesting.

If it possible for you to take a photo of the front of the scroll and clearer pictures of the front and the back?

There is a handy guide to taking photos stickied in this section of the forum.
