Brad Dorsey
I took it. Anyone else?
Don Noon
Presumably it's for folks trying to make a living. My input would severely warp the results.
MJ Kwan
It asks for income from lutherie-related work only. Part-timers are welcome to take it. You can read through and decide whether it seems appropriate to fill out. Answers are not submitted until the end.
Ian Christian
Completed. I'll be interested to see how my part of the world compares to elsewhere, if that data will be shown.
Don Noon
Completed... my income data will surely discourage others from taking up this occupation.

Depends on your perspective. The prevailing Maestronet polemic resents anyone earning anything from violin making

Does it apply to repairing, too?
deans
I've not noticed much resentment towards makers making a living, on this site. But a lot of resentment toward dealers making money trading in violins. And the stupidity of any customer paying retail for an old violin, from such a dealer

Is "Women in Lutherie" suggestive of gender bias? There are many women in the trade who are just really phucking good!

Yes, there will be some resentment towards those who claim to be "in our trade", but have no clue what they are doing. But none of this is anthing new. violins88
I was unable to complete the survey. It stopped working. I am retired. Violin making is a hobby.

Michael_Molnar
I think it’s great having a job that you like as long as there is food on the table and the rent and utilities are paid. Do the math and you will find it’s a tough life. Nevertheless, if that is what you want, go for it.
