Cello Bow ID -- Auction Find #1

Recommended Posts

Last week I lucked out at a local antique auction, buying a lot of bows that included 2 very nice cello bows.

This one is stamped J MERCIOLLE - PARIS.  (Jules Merciolle, a violin maker who I never heard of before, established his shop in Paris in 1911.)  Octagonal stick.  Silver-mounted.  Three pins in the heel plate.  Two pins in the button, one centered on a facet and one on a corner.

Has anyone got any ideas about this one?

Thanks for the opinions.  I had picked Morizot out of "L'Archet" as one of the more likely suspects.

You're right.  I will probably replace the nipple.

There's another nice cello bow that I will put up pictures of.  Also three cheap cello bows and a Glasser bass bow.
