Crimson0087
I don't really think it's a big deal that us Americans are still on 120v. The bigger annoyance to me is that we aren't using the metric system.....it's a much more efficient system but we refuse to change.

Americans pretty much are using the metric system, the major exception being the building trade, where things like 16 inch stud spacing and American National Standard pipe threads are still largely used. violins88
I think it would be useful to know if 3rd grade teachers know how to teach cm and grams. 20 years ago, it was the case that most 3rd grade teachers had taken only one science class. Dennis J
I'm on my third bending iron. The first two were rubbish. The Luthier's Bench one I'm using now is robust and heats up quickly unlike the previous ones. The only criticism I have is that the radius of the bends is a little on the small side. Could some kind person who knows why, explain it to me please? Maybe we can't be trusted with the high voltage?

What is your opinion about this one? https://www.stewmac.com/luthier-tools-and-supplies/tools-by-job/tools-for-bending-sides/bending-iron.html Thanks, Rachel This has already been answered but here is my $0.02s. I use some plumbing pipe through which I have a propane torch blowing through. I really need a good bending iron. It sounds like the good ones last many years. Buy the best one which really works well and it will pay you back in many ways. I really need to get a good one made for violin work. I have purchased other tools which could have been more useful; mostly because I did not have anyone helping me. Good luck on your violin! David Rosales
Here's another option. This luthier uses a 1" thick soldering iron and prefers it to a standard bending iron. I'm just a noob so the actual makers may have their own opinions on this. Check out the video below:
