Ever hear of this guy?

I was kicking tires at Shopgoodwill and found this violin. I’m not interested in buying it, but it doesn’t look like a bad fiddle, but I was interested in the label, which is charming and looks completely real, but I’ve never heard of the maker, and he’s not listed in my Wenberg book. So I’m wondering if anybody knows anything about the fellow?

I saw that one too, and likewise couldn't find a thing on the maker.  Apparently somebody is interested in it, as it's at $514 with over 2 hours to go.

With a label that fancy I'm guessing the maker was a rich, bored 1920's "Gentleman Hobbyist" who probably made fiddles while his wife was down at Newcomb College playing around with pottery.   I LOVE this stuff!

Found him on Ancestry.  Apparently a hobbyist/maker.  Worked all his life as a "paper ruler" in a book bindery.  Probably explains the fancy label- similar to labels often found in books.
