Delabo
I have a mystery violin that puzzles me as to the construction method used. The C-bout mitres are mixed. The bottom C-bout rib corner mitre is internal, inside the C-bout, just like inside mold construction. But the top C-bout rib mitre is on the outside of the rib corner facing the top of the violin. I have scratched my head trying to work out what construction method would end up looking like this. Any ideas please ?
GeorgeH
Somewhere I believe @jacobsaunders discussed pre-made rib garlands that were half BoB and half outside mold (if I recall correctly). Perhaps your mystery violin was built using one of those. What do the blocks look like?

Three13
I recently saw a 20th century großstadtgeige with the top off - the lower ribs were mitred like an inside mold, while the upper ribs were feathered. I took this to be an outer mold construction. Have you seen yours with the top off?
