stranger scroll

Has someone knows who make scroll like this one? It seems that the turn are not connected, only concentric circles.

I don't know anyone who does that, but I did see it on several unfinished scrolls many nears ago.  It was in the shop of an apparently self-taught hobbyist, and very crude.  Your photo is much nicer.

And then there's Henry Ford's first fiddle (not made by him) in the Ford Museum.  It's even more crude:

I've seen that type (OP's) on ones that I thought were cheaper Japanese instruments.

Sorry for the pictures, I have not the violin with me. I thought that maybe that kind of scroll could point to any maker or school.

The violin seems XX century, but at least it is 40 years old.
