Zack Myers
Hello! I recently purchased a violin from an estate sale & I was wondering if you could help me identify it’s age & if it’s a Stainer copy. The violin was repaired in 1919, so I don’t believe that it’s a German factory copy from the late 1800s or early 1900s, however I could be wrong. Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

Thanks so much! It's not a Stainer copy, but rather a fantasy attempt by people who had never seen a real Stainer. Despite what you believe about the dates, it is exactly that. Zack Myers
That's what I was thinking after looking through Tarisio's photos of authentic Stainer Violins. Thanks Jacob & WB!
Nick Allen
Weren't J. Stainer's labels hand written? Did he ever have a printed version?
JacksonMaberry
That's what I call a Stain-er: pick one up and you can't get the stain off no matter how hard you try.
