Identify Cello A String

Recommended Posts

Hi all! I’m in the process of replacing all my strings, but I’ve been unable to identify my A string. At the tailpiece end it’s a light green, and at the pegbox it’s a light blue. String color charts would make me think it’s a Thomastik Vision, but I’m not sure those are even made for cello. Any ideas?

Is the ball end steel, brass, or painted black?

At the peg end, does it have fine copper wire round the silking?

Apparently brass.

If so, it’s very fine. My guess is no. See the attached photo.
