_Alex
Someone paid $6,500 on Goodwill for a 'Signed Collin-Mezin Luthier Violin - Paris France' (plus bow) https://www.shopgoodwill.com/Item/108036298 Which is above the top estimate for the one just listed on T2 https://t2-auctions.com/auctions/lot/?csid=2199371776&cpid=3655221248 Go figure
PhilipKT
Was that Otto Hoyer bow real?? If so, whoever bought that fiddle did OK

martin swan
The Collin-Mézin on Goodwill is undoubtedly genuine, but I can't see the date, it's definitely post 1900 and it looks a bit manky. The bow photos are tiny but the brand looks good - however, the thumb projection is worn. So whichever way you cut it I think it's neither a bargain nor a lemon ... The one at T2 is an active auction so I wouldn't want to pass comment, except to say that it seems to be in good general condition.

Shelbow
I don't think anything that is online is secret anymore, we need to go back to car boot sales / yard sales if they ever happen again.

_Alex
Quote I know you're joking! But part of our global problem is thinking everything should be cheap... I wholeheartedly agree. I've often referred to my country as a nation of cheapskates. But we've been cautioned not to discuss such things here, so I will instead turn your attention to this clunker which sold last night for just about 500 bucks. (I know, I really ought to have better things to do) https://www.shopgoodwill.com/Item/108714921 Looks to my very untrained eye to be a Maggini copy that might have some potential if it weren't in such terrible shape.
