Reunification happened in 1989. How soon after that did “West Germany” disappear as an identified country of origin? Did shops continue using labels until they ran out? Or were the “made in West German” or “Bundesrepublik “ ( or DDR, for that matter) stamps/brands instantly discarded?

The term unification is widely used, but in fact it was an entry of the former DDR region to the Bundesrepublik. DDR and West Germany disappeared, the Bundesrepublik continued.

BTW, this was on 3rd of October in 1990, not 89. The DDR survived the fall of the wall for nearly 11 months, though in a transformation.

Thanks for the clarification. But when did the term “made in West Germany” Stop? And because the DDR became part of Germany, the “made in DDR” would have stopped to, though perhaps a bit later?

I think "West Germany" is more a term used mostly untill the 70s and died out step by step later. Probably it wasn't even legal anymore to use it, because it was never a correct name of any existing state according to international trade regulations.

There wasn't a DDR from 10/3 1990 onwards anymore, so who could make something there?
