Blondelet (JTL) w/ duplicate label - fake or legit?

Recommended Posts

Hi all, please consider the cello in the attached images - to me the varnish, woods, and constuction match what I've seen from legit Blondelets from this period, but I'm only an apsiring novice when it comes to identification.

The concerning thing for me is that I've seen the exact label on another instrument with very similar finish and construction.  And I mean exact label - I dropped both labels into powerpoint, corrected size/angle and then layered and adjusted transparency to compare the number (which is same on both labels) and year writing and they're a dead match.

Thoughts?  Would JTL have used the same label (including # and year) on multiple instruments, or is this a modern label copy and the instrument something else?

I'm with Martin. The big eye on the scroll, large blurry f-holes and  cheap maple with vertical stripes all say German factory to me.

Michael, how can you tell that is cheap maple?

Can you clarify what you mean by “blurry” F-holes?
