Is this a Pollastri ?

Recommended Posts

Have a chance to buy a violin from a  gentleman who claims to have had it for over decades and had purchased it in Europe during one of his travels. I have my suspicions but could it be a Pollastri ? He does not know the importance of the  maker but wanted to check if there is any promise before I spend any money to get an expert paid advise. It has an authentic looking branding above the label

The label looks like times new roman, inkjet printer to me. A pretty unsophisticated forgery.

I wouldn't pay attention to this sort of puffery ... it sounds very Ebayese

My unprofessional opinion is that this particular violin is just barely good enough profile wise to make one wonder if this one really is genuine but the year on the label is also the year he won awards and his brother died.

I'm curious as to what the mark is ABOVE the label. Is that some sort of brand?

It’s the Pollastri brand (two chickens facing one another), which is found on the real ones, as well as many of the fakes.
