Not the real thing, but from where?

The label ( that is not to be trusted, as I learned here on MN) :

Bortolamio Obici                                                                                         in Verona 1680

It looks quite similar to the label at Tarisio’s web site.

LOB is 35,4 cm

That’s what I expected, but would you point to any direction, Mr Saunders?

I don't know for sure, but will have to ask my usual questionn re corner blocks and how far the scroll fluting goes into the throat. I wonder if the original varnish has been sanded of, and then re-varnished?

Thanks, I still don't know, lets see if anyone else has ideas. The reason I thought perhaps "sanded off" was that it seems to lack any sharp edges.

Ya, it's almost like someone plowed off the recurve by falling over the edge with sandpaper

I think that it looks in all aspects like typical amateurish/autodidactical work, also the finishing with sandpaper and the pins fixing the pegbox. So it could be made everywhere. For example, in the UK they would call it Scottish, south of the Alps "Central Italy".:)

At least it is not the "usual" at first glance, so no dustbin for now.

And there is a cello with the same pins at the hell of the  pegbox, but the pegbox has no "floor". What I mean is that you can see the pegs form the front or the back of the pegbox.

Is this feature indicative of some school?

Sorry, no pictures of the cello, but the scrool is similar to my violin, with that " tongue" at the heel. By the way, what the name of it?
