Medici Tenor X-ray

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

Some time ago, somebody on MN posted an image of an X-ray of the Stradivari Tenor in Florence. I've been trying without success to find that thread. Does anyone remember that and/or know who posted it?

Thanks, and Wishing everyone good health -

KK

There are images of the Florence tenor in the S&G book on the Tuscan violin noted above, but no ct scans. There are ct scans of the Mahler on Strad poster but this is a far cry from the tenor! I’d love to see ct scans of the tenor as well if anyone can find them

Kevin,

The only two x-ray images I could rustle up on short notice are in the book "La Musica e i suoi Strumenti" La Collezione Granducale del Conservatorio Cherubini, Giunti editor 2001  ISBN 88-09-02184-3 .

These are partial x-rays and are likely taken from a full image of the body. In the interim, CAT scans (medical resolution, relatively low) have been made of many of the lesser instruments in the collection and I would be surprised if they hadn't done the tenor as well.
