Origin of this violin?

Recommended Posts

Acquired this  violin a year ago from an auction (a violin c1890) which was unlabeled

Any idea of its origin/ school?

Thank you

Unfortunately this auction hause photos are processed in a way that nearly all instruments can look very similar, while identification features are blurred.

Making an assumption to be taken with a big spoon full of salt I would guess a Mirecourt origin, but it would be necessary to be confirmed (or disproved) with more detailled photos, like it's described in the "How to photograph" thread.

Semi interesting.

Just wondering the purfling on the front and particularly the back. While would not be viewed clearly, it appears to be scratches (not the real ones), aren't they?

Well the purfling is not "scratched" at all but inlaid ...

So it's more like a Mirecourt instrument?
