mathieu valde
Does someone recognise this particular Monogram as makers one? Or it is owner's? First letter is M but 2nd? It does not look as German Kurrent , violin came for Denmark - maybe Danish Kurrent S ? Any ideas?

If you follow the identification sticky thread about instrument photography, we'd be able to tell you more about the fiddle.
mathieu valde
Just now, Nick Allen said: If you follow the identification sticky thread about instrument photography, we'd be able to tell you more about the fiddle. Well I actually asked about monogram, because I strongly suspect MK/Sh, if you look on purfling. But ok - I have some photos of violin, but no inside, because it is not mine and I have no access. Please be so kind and tell me what you can tell about it, maybe it will be something more interesting than I suspect...
luthier
Very nice! Too good to be from Schoenbach. I would be looking to France as a possible origin. I can't help out with the stamp, though.

I would read the initials as MJ and nicht MS
Conor Russell
Too nice to be Schoenbach? Doesn't look in the slightest bit French to me.

Blank face
Just to confirm the former opinions, everything - scroll, edgework and purfling, varnish, wood choice, corners - is nothing but Markneukirchen/Schönbach from the very early 20th century in my eyes. Saying too good or too nice to be xxy seems to confirm that a person is just guessing (nothing wrong with that, but insignificant for identification). The letters look handscratched, so probably an owners mark.
