It's obvious that the damage is both of a social and economical nature and dangerous for people being old or  in a bad health condition for other reasons. A risk factor is clearly that you were afraid to visit your doctor for a long period due to a missing health insurance,  you don't want to be a "socialist" having one, or some cowgirl/boy attitude like "this little fever won't kill me but make me stronger".

You may have some misunderstandings and skewed opinions about life and views in the US. I asked earlier where you lived, but you did not answer.

Again, many in the US place high value on personal choice. If a person supposedly living below the poverty level spends $200 per month for a smart phone and cable TV (not at all unusual in the US), but thinks they can't afford a $150 annual medical checkup, some here think that should be their choice. Others here think that we should be more forceful with imposing one person's choices and priorities on another. A lot of it comes down to one's beliefs regarding their personal superiority.

Granted, I have sometimes cringed in the grocery store checkout line when I observed someone using government food assistance to purchase junk food, rather than needed staples. So that's another potential issue of contention. Should the role of our governments be to automatically provide us with a cushy lifestyle, or encourage us to pull ourselves up by our bootstraps?

Evan,

I care if people are spreading mis-information. I would hope everyone would care.

That's probably a real good way to put it

A famous congresswoman is out there saying specifically that the latter is impossible

Ya the problem is the "misinformation" is coming from the CDC the Surgeon General {which was exposed, he knows masks will help but thinks "others" need them more than you } and all the "LegacyMedia" that the average American has been brainwashed by

and it is literal brainwashing

I don’t know what you are referring to. Please explain.

In earlier times we just hid under our desks.   Some people were worried about being blown to bits or burned to a crisp.  I was worried about my hair getting stuck in all the gum.

I remember that, In Grand Haven where I grew up we always had tornado drills {besides the nuke stuff} I distinctly remember the gum, stay low, avoid the gum!

So, this will be an interesting "test" of reality....here is a link about patient 0 in Italy.

Now I think ,many's knee jerk reaction will be to "poopoo" the source and not believe it, EVEN if this source has repeatedly "called it" {whatever the subject}" WAY before "legacy mainstream media does}

so these guys break it first...NOT mainstream....so will the info turn out to BS or not?

this has "association to those who we do not speak of"

to clarify some, there are "networks" of alternate media that work together....this is a derivitive of the big banned one

Davide,

Your words remind me of the SARS crisis here in Toronto, Canada and surrounding area back in 2003. That strain was less contagious but more deadly, even killing healthy hospital workers. I'm glad I stopped being a Respiratory Therapist by then.  Southeast Asian and Chinese markets were like ghost towns, but I still frequented my favourite Vietnamese restaurant for Pho and spring rolls.  Now SARS is a distant memory for most of us who lived through the worst of it.

The other dangerous microbes haven't gone away: Norovirus and E.Coli are foodborne and direct-contact spread so be careful what you touch and what you eat when you go out in public.  Wash your hands often and thoroughly.  Remember that humour is the most powerful weapon and the strongest defense in any war.

"The only thing we have to fear is fear it self". Franklin Roosevelt

In the same time period drunk driving and distracted driving will kill and maim more people (like I was) than this virus will - but bad drivers aren't being quarantined.  And we don't need to theorize about who is to blame. Unfortunately, there is no vaccine for human stupidity.  So drive sober and alert.

Keep a positive mental attitude.  Something is going to kill each of us someday - so keep on living life to the very end.  Go to the opera. It ain't over 'till the fat lady sings.

Let me leave you with this:

One day things were going very badly for me. I sat alone in the dark - tired, sad, and worried. Soon, a little voice inside of me chirped, "Cheer up! Things could be worse.". So I cheered up. And right away, things got worse.

Yours truly,

Love u.

I have answerd this question so often within this kind of discussions (the last time just before you quoted me some pages ago), also tried to explain the way social insurances are working here . Maybe that's why it's feeling so redundant.

At least our German social insurances, obliging all people to pay for a common health care, were established not by some socialists but the very conservative and nationalistic chancellor Bismarck about 130 years ago and seems to be so successful working that nearly all European countries have a similar actually. At least I can get a medical care without payment everywhere within the European Union just by showing my chip card. Just checked that I would pay about 650 Euro extra for a one year complete health care assurance in the USA, including a free flight back in case of accident, bad illness or death.

Also interesting that a recent poll found out that USA people are much more concerned about the corona pandemic than some European (only the Canadians are more relaxed)

Question, how do these types of insurance programs deal with malpractice, like "oops' cut off the wrong leg" does the state award a settlement? Do you sue these doctors? Is there a limit on the damages?

I know nothing about this system ,but something tells me people there are not suing doctors and being awarded 10's of millions of dollars for negligence and that , that may be the reason it is working.

Edit; your statement made me look into this, so I answered my own question

https://www.loc.gov/law/help/medical-malpractice-liability/germany.php

as I suspected, most Euro countries do not have millions of million dollar claims based on "pain and suffering"

Here again lawsuits and the huge "pain and suffering " payouts are what has destroyed the american medical system. Basically sleazy lawyers on both ins. and doctor defense working together to game the system.

Higher awards for malpractice clients mean justifying huge liability  rates for doctors which justifies huge rates for consumers.

But the real problem is the average IQ and all the systemic brainwashing where people do not have the basic cognitive function to figure out what I have just laid out

Covid19 mutated. So we are battling two strains. Google for details.

Scientists question if it is more virulent.

Stay tuned.

In general, as new pathogenic micro-organisms evolve and become adapted to their hosts, they cause less severe disease. There are good evolutionary reasons for this. However, that's not to say that new mutations can't pop up that are more severe, at least, temporarily. Nor does it mean that this outbreak may mutate to a less severe form quickly (i.e. in weeks or months).

Do you just believe anything you're told without critically thinking about it? You've spread all sorts or bat-shit rumours on here which most people, fortunately, can see them for what they are. That is, paranoid drivel.

I dunno do you?  haha, the live leak video sums it up pretty well and I suppose what's shown is news to you?

The only "rumor" that I recall mentioning is that it may be a bioweapon, and sorry there's many people beside me that have been talking about that "out there" and many people who say that it's a fact by now. I have no proof, but then again I guess it just gets into where you get your information and if your trust it.

It's pretty clear the virus is something take seriously, so you are free to be as paranoid as you want to be. Or can't you do that where you live?

Basically all I've done is suggest people buy food and supplies prior to the stampedes, which I warned of prior to them happening,

So therefore logically my advice is sound, and therefore by you suggesting otherwise makes you an idiot who wants to see people stuck in lines and face shortages they need not face.

You simply sound like someone who does not understand human behavior.
