Knots. To fill or not to fill

Recommended Posts

I think it depends on the size and condition of the knot.
Sometimes they can be small, are solid, and do not have any hole or void in them. These should not be a problem, but I wouldn’t want them anywhere near the sound post area.

Large knots, or ones with voids, I’d just use a different piece of maple.

I do not and I do not hesitate to use wood that has knots in it as I find them very atractive. I only try to avoid knots that are not solid and have tendency to move or to fall from the wood. As Wood Butcher says I would try to avoid having them near SP area.

Tango, you could try making a paste with lycopodium and your ground varnish to fill it. CA is  a good idea too, as mentioned by Christopher.
