So I found some O’bryne that Immigrated from Dublin in 1872 to Pittsburgh.  I’m thinking maybe one of them. This violin looks different. I’m wondering if it looks similar to Irish making traditions in Dublin?  Anyway the the lining is continuous From top to bottom over the corner blocks and the bout corners are offset and very shallow.  Maybe it was some hobby maker but it looks like whoever made it had done it more than once.  Maybe It came over with them and they just put a label in it? Any thoughts are appreciated.  Thanks.

I don’t know whether an Markneukirchen-made fiddle would have corners like that.

Yeah the purfling, varnish and scroll looks   Similar to other German violins I’ve had but the outline and bouts are pretty different.

I think you might be, for once, pretty certain, that you don‘t have a made in Markneukirchen American violin, although he might have bought a scroll from there, via. one of the wholesalers

I am absolutely useless on these IDs, but the shape reminds me of the violins in this thread, specifically the hourglass shape with nubby corners.

The pattern is a bit odd, but I wonder how it would sound when set up.

We shall see...

This violin is surprisingly clean. No cracks.  I wonder if it has ever been opened so I’m thinking that the linings were made that way going overtop the blocks originally.  A little different than the violin in that thread.  The lob is 360 mm.  Little big for my taste.  Looks like it was played quite a bit in higher positions from the wear.  So someone was using it.  I’ll be curious when it is strung up how it sounds.  It’s an odd looking one though
