Bow found in Klotz Viola case

Recommended Posts

I'd appreciate comment on this unbranded bow. very straight and strong I found it in an old case with a Kloz Viola.

It will be a bow from Markneukirchen from the end of the 19th C. or the beginning of the 20th C. of a higher grade (silver mounted). There were hundreds of bow makers there then, so it is hopeless to speculate which one it was.

Essentially I'm agreeing with Jacob, nontheless it could be interesting to see head and frog photos dead straight from the sides to get an idea of the shape. Is it a viola bow (weight)?

To my uneducated eye it looks well-made and that it would clean up very nicely. I think it is a nice throw in with your viola.

Please share photographs once you get it cleaned and haired, and I echo the request for photographs of the instrument.
