Pochette violin

Recommended Posts

Are there any designs / plans / instructions for building a small pocket size violin.  I might like to build something small to take along on camping trips.

Something like this but I want to build not buy one

Thanks for the link.  That's a nice looking little fiddle.  I wonder how Strad designed it.

Without a chin rest,  how would these have been held while playing?

I don't know how people do that.  I've seen youtube videos where a violin is held on the chest but when I try it,  it seems like a very awkward way to hold it.

There is a Strad pochette illustrated in the Beare exhibit book that I copied many years ago. Works well.

They also have a significant collection of pochettes at the museum in Vermillion, SD: https://emuseum.nmmusd.org/collections/18322/pochettes-and-kits/objects

Do you still have photos/info of the Clapisson to share, so I can build one? That would be a real fun project!

Hello!

What your pochette? I remember that you ask me for mould some time before. Are you made it yet? ;)

Send some photo, please :)

No, it is still a Dream for the future. Maybe when my kid is a bit older and I have some spare time. Probably when I will retire though. But one Needs something nice to look Forward to, doesn't one?
